Collaborativity: Working together. Over distance. For a change.

We work with people who are committed to making the world a better place, and want to work collaboratively in teams and communities with distance getting in the way.

Virtual work. Virtual teams. The holy grail of today’s business. If only!

The reality of virtual work is total frustration. Great team leaders become ineffective managers. Good employees struggle to stay on track. Relationships are strained. Trust flies out the window.

Why is virtual work so hard? Why don’t technical investments and services make communications easier? Because we come to virtual work without the necessary interpersonal skills.

Just because you know how to use the phone and your computer doesn’t mean you know how to listen and speak in ways that create alignment in groups. Working in virtual space is literally working blind - without the benefit of all the visual imput about body language that we rely on in face-to-face communication. High functioning virtual groups require new skills, new abilities to be engaging and remain engaged at a distance.

You may have made huge investments in collaboration technology. These investments will only pay off fully when complimented by the necessary skills. And, just as the skills needed to make effective use of the phone are not just knowing how to pick up the phone and dial, so the skills needed to make effective use of virtual teams go beyond knowing how to operate a new piece of software.

This is where we come in. Our expertise is in training and skill development for the interpersonal component of virtual teamwork.
